How To Conserve Water In Your Business

Water is an abundant resource, it covers 71% of the planet. However, most of that is salt water and is not fit to be drunk.

Next to oxygen, water is necessary for life. We need fresh water so that we can sustain life. It is estimated, however, that the world’s supply of fresh drinking water will have run out by 2040 if we don’t all take steps now to change the way that we use water.

To change our current usage, we need to find practical ways of saving water that everyone can do.

Here are four simple ways to conserve water in your business. Read on to find out more.

Put a Plastic Bottle in All of Your Toilet Tanks.

This is one of the simplest and most creative ways of conserving water in your business.

Simply add an inch or two or pebbles or sand into a one-litre plastic bottle then fill the rest of the bottle up with water. Screw the lid on and put the bottle into your toilet tank away from the mechanism.

By just doing this, you could save five gallons of water each day without losing the effectiveness of your toilet flush. If your business has several toilets, you could save a lot more water by repeating in every toilet

Catch Rainwater in a Water Tank.

Water that is captured outside can be used for watering plants or for flushing toilets. Instead of using water from the tap, you should think about using water that you’ve collected up in a water tank.

Mend Your Leaks.

If you have a leak in any of you pipes, taps or in water pumps then you can lose up to fifty gallons of water each day. By searching for and repairing all of your leaks, you’ll be able to save a considerable amount of water.

A well-maintained water system will be efficient and won’t waste water.

Buy a Dishwasher.

If your business has a kitchen or kitchenette area, then you may be surprised to learn that washing all of your dishes by hand will use up more water than you would use if you were to get a dishwasher to do the job for you.

You could say a staggering 5,000 litres of water each and every year by using a dishwasher instead of washing the dishes by hand. This amount would be a lot more if you were to buy a more water efficient model.

Who knew that avoiding doing the washing up would be a great way to help the environment?

What are Your Creative Methods of Water Conservation?

It’s clear that we all need to take decisive action if we are to reduce the amount of water that we waste. To do this, we need to get creative with our methods of water conservation.
