Rent a Boffin: Lab Coats for Hire!

Would you rent a researcher?  Apparently some of you would.

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) plans to double the number of engineers and scientists on one-year or two-year secondments to local SMEs in the healthcare, computing and communications sector over the next four years due to high demand.  In a new matchmaking government scheme called Technology for Enterprise Capability Upgrading – or T-Up for us acronym-crazy Singaporeans – some 250 researchers can be “rented” out to small businesses as part of a campaign to boost the R&D capability of local firms.  The government even subsidises 70% of the researcher’s salary.
