Women Entrepreneurs: Where are You?
According to the recent Business Times editorial article “Untapped potential – women entrepreneurs” dated 11 January 2007, a survey conducted by business information provider DP Information Group and Action Community for Entrepreneurs found that women were lagging behind when it comes to venturing into entrepreneurship. Over 70 percent of company founders who responded to the survey were male.
So where are all our enterprising women? Who’s going to be our next Elim Chew or Olivia Lum? We’d love you to step forward please.
The survey also found that around 63 percent of 582 startup companies polled managed to turn a profit by their third year, and a good 36 percent were in the black within 12 months of operations.
That’s jolly good news.
